Designs for Indigenous Roots
branding / logo / website / campaigns
2017-2019
Context: Laichee, in collaboration with Indigenous Roots (iroots) founders, Maryanne and Sergio, guided the organization through a brand identity workshop. The mission and services of iroots were refined, and powerful ways to convey their work were defined. A significant goal of this collaboration was to design an iconic logo resonating with their multidisciplinary, multigenerational, and multicultural communities. Drawing from ancient Mexica-Azteca symbols, which also inform the organization's philosophy, Laichee designed a logo mark and vectorized key motifs, including Xochitl, Koatl, Malinalli, Zipaktli, and Kiahuitl symbols.
The website aimed to host iroot's stories, foster deeper connections, and uplift program resources. Laichee had the opportunity to write copy, photograph iroots events for website imagery, and develop additional design assets for social media and marketing material. This collaborative design work significantly contributed to the visibility and health of Indigenous Roots, earning them both national and regional recognition.
